The Kimmel Center presents “SPRING FLING”

April 15th through May 8th.

It’s a Spring Fling, as Free in the Plaza offers an opportunity to
Unwind in the Commonwealth Plaza of the Kimmel Center.

Enjoy their casual café atmosphere, featuring Happy Hour pricing,

Tapas selections, raffles and prizes, discount ticket offers, and best of all,
Music ranging from jazz and dance to classical and pop.

Johnny Cruz Latin Jazz Ensemble

In partnership with Raíces Culturales Latinoamericanas
Johnny Cruz Latin Jazz Ensemble originated from the barrio/neighborhood surrounding Raíces Culturales Latinoamericanas, Inc. on 5th and Somerset Streets in North Philadelphia about fifteen years ago.

The Latin Jazz Ensemble is made up of Johnny Cruz, pianist and acoustic Puerto Rican and Cuban instrumentalist together with Nasario de Jesus with the tres and a heavy infusion of percussion by Esaud Hernandez on the conga, Luis Gamis on timbales, bongo, guiro, maracas and cow bell.

Uriel Cortes compliments the group with his bass style fingering. This year Melissa Yarborough joins the group with her flute and Selena Cortez on the violin. The group also includes Angel Palacios, salsa lead singer, Aida Cruz and Rosa Benitez, backup vocalists.

WHEN THE MUSIC ENDS we will head out for some food/drinks....
