Since 1810 “O’zapft is” has been the trademark phrase that heralds the opening of the famous Munich Oktoberfest. Over 6 million people annually, of all ages, and of all nationalities, take part in the world’s largest Folk Fest. Did you know that the second largest Oktoberfest worldwide takes place in Canada? Kitchener-Waterloo, to be precise. Not to be outdone, Vancouver will host its own Oktoberfest in the perfect Bavarian setting of the Vancouver Alpen Club, with authentic music, schuplattler dancing, yodeling, bratwurst, and of course: the best of German Beer on tap! The German Band the Silverstars will perform. We will also host the Bavarian Olympics, featuring beer drinking, Bavarian dancing, and yodeling competitions, with prizes at stake. We will also have a Ms. Oktoberfest contest. Sport your Lederhosen or Dirndl dress and party with your friends in true Bavarian fashion. I think this will be a great meetup for this group. It is fun and a great way to socialize, dance and have fun. This event will be a practice for the Oktoberfest coming up. A live band, Al Pichler and the Alpiners, will be performing both modern and Beerfest style music. There will be delicious traditional Beerfest food and German Beer served at a reasonable price. We will also have traditional wheat beer on tap. The emphasis will be on fun. There is much planned. This is a great opportunity to celebrate a Beerfest German style. These are not just guys pretending to be German!! No Minors. (19+ admitted with proper photo ID) Ticket price includes: Your first beer. This event is expected to sell out. This event is sponsored by: Okanagan Spring Brewery. The 3rd Bavarian Beerfest was sold out and they had to turn people away. No minors may attend this event. You must be at least 19 years old. This will be a German Style Fest held outdoors. There will be a live band, Al Pichler and the Alpiners; beer garden, great food (barbeque) and entertainment for all. Kids will have their own entertainment, games and activities in a seperate area. Children under 12 years old are free. You do not need to buy a ticket for them The Edelweiss dancers (schuplattler) will be their to entertain us. Please bring your lawn chair/blanket, sun shade, sunglasses and anything else you will need to enjoy the outdoors and each others company.
