Picnic BBQ and volleyball in the park is back
We always had a great turnout last year for these events, so don't miss it. There will be hot dogs, hamburgers, all the condiments, plates and tableware along with sodas and water will be available. All you need to bring is a dish to share - appetizers, salads, vegetables, fruit, finger food, breads, or desserts are good options. No alcoholic beverages are allowed in city parks, so don't be tempted. Also bring a lawn chair or blanket to share. A donation of $5 each is suggested to cover the cost of furnishings.
There will be other singles from the many Meetup groups in Albuquerque and Parents Without Partners and Outdoor Adventures for Singles attending. So bring your children if you wish, there may be games for them to play during the day. Outdoor Adventures will have two volleyball nets set up, but they are for adults only.
We'll start cooking at noon and start the serving around 12:30 and finish when the food is gone or 2 PM, whichever occurs first. We'll start playing volleyball around 1:00 and play until 5 PM. Enjoy the afternoon relaxing with old and new friends watching the games.
If you don't like to play volleyball, that's no problem, bring a lawn chair, blanket or recliner and relax or cheer your friends on. Feel free to bring other games such as Frisbee or croquet. Children are welcome to come to the park, but these games will be for adults only. No dogs or alcoholic beverages. Feel free to bring single potential members to make the day an enjoyable social event.
Leader: Tom Mizner (830-9734 or cell 301-2460) and Michael O'Neill (292-6801) [masked]
We plan to have a couple of portable restrooms available. Also a smaller volleyball net for kids to play at and other games.
If you can help out with anything, let us know. I will need help with finding extra tables, popup canopies, 2 BBQ grills, chairs, help setting up and collecting money.
Volleyball Rules are simple:
1. Have fun.
2. No one touching or falling into the net.
3. No overhand serves.
4. No spiking of the ball.
5. Physically aggressive behavior will not be tolerated
6. No kicking or throwing of the ball or equipment which may cause injuries to or be threatening or offensive to any participants.
7. No foul, abusive language or gestures towards any participants present.
8. If all else fails, see rule number 1.
