One great place to paddle that we somehow have missed this year!! The foliage should be at peak around now, it is a beautiful lazy paddle. Let's start at the Sojourner Truth Park boat launch in New Paltz and have a relaxing day on the Wallkill. Easy trip for all paddlers, but don't forget your PFD and whistle!! We will try to get to the Rifton covered bridge, you will be paddling for quite a few miles, so be prepared!! Bring snacks and water, we will celebrate our outing in New Paltz for a late lunch afterwards, location TBA. Directions to launch: Take Route 299 through New Paltz going west. Immediately BEFORE the bridge over the Wallkill, turn left onto Water Street. The road winds around behind Water Street Market. You will come to a four-way stop. Continue straight (not up the hill) onto Plains Road. Less than half a mile on the right is the parking area for Sojourner Truth Park. The put-in can be muddy, be forewarned!!! Caravan from Newburgh at 9:15, Adam's nursery area parking lot. No restroom facilities. $1 Meetup fee. Send me your cell if I don't have it, heavy rain or extremely gloomy weather may cancel, check your email Saturday night and Sunday morning. Possibility of just dining if we don't paddle. I will email last minute cancellations Sunday morning by 8am if we don't go, but I should know Saturday night. Bring: change of clothing, PFD, water, camera, hat, sunglasses, rain jacket, and a snack. See you on the river!!!

Meet at Gully's, bring a flashlight or your new decklight as we will likely be in the dark on the way home. If you have Scary Monster Spray bring that too, the floating wood in the river transforms after dark..... :-) Also bring boots for the put-in and take-out, the water is cold!!! Dry clothes for afterwards could be a good idea, you should always have a change of clothes..... Dinner afterwards possibly at Irish Eyes or in Newburgh near the bridge. Happy day!!! Heavy winds cancels as well as strong river chop. $1 Meetup fee.

Hi Water-Loving Friends!! I have a last minute chance for you if you are free Wednesday evening......sail on the Woodie Guthrie out of Beacon, weather permitting. You can't be a no-show or a last-minute RSVP changer for this, if you sign up you need to show up as this is last minute and others may be on the waiting list. The weather as of now is AM showers, it should be nice for the evening!! The Captain will make a decision if the weather is questionable, you won't know until you get there if they are not sailing. We leave from the Beacon Sloop Club which is on the river side of the Beacon Train Station, right next to where the ferry docks.....to get there go past the first entrance for the train station, make the next right to go over the tracks to the river side, there is a little building along on the left for the Sloop Club. Park near there..... BRING YOUR OWN PFD if you have one, otherwise they will supply one for you. PLEASE don't be late, they sail at 6:15 (in theory!) but don't be late anyway. If you want to carpool, put it in your RSVP, meet at 5:45 at John J. Lease (across from the Alexis Diner by the Newburgh entrance to 84). Eat beforehand, but don't go nuts drinking, there is no bathroom on the boat. There is a composting toilet at the Sloop Club, but who knows if it will be open or not, better safe than sorry!! :-) DRESS WARMLY and bring a jacket in case of rain. Fleece is a good idea, as is a hat.....It is windy and usually cooler on the river!!!! Please be serious about your RSVP, only 12 may go, don't sign up if you are not SURE you are free and willing to take the chance on a great sail......last minute RSVP changers will be dragged behind the boat........ :-)

Oh no!!! This will likely be our last Paddle/Gully's for the season, Gully's will close this next weekend..... boo!!! So come on out, join us for a relaxing paddle and we will toast another good time. This will be the last Gully's one, we may do more with another venue, don't worry, it's not the last After Work Paddle just yet!! Rain date may be Friday, stay tuned, only Yes people will be notified..... Be prepared for weather, chop, and rain, not necessarily for beginning paddlers unless the weather is CALM.... If you have a spray skirt, bring it, the Hudson is temperamental...... $1 Meetup fee, email me your cell in case the weather is bad...... See you on the river!! :-)

Hi Friends, This is a wonderful opportunity to paddle a little farther from home, by joining the Stamford Kayaking Meetup Group for a great weekend!! I won't be able to make it, but you may want to join their Meetup and join them!! Please don't RSVP on this site, I'm just posting it for your information. The description on SKG's"> SKG's site is as follows: Announcing the Second Annual Norwalk Islands Kayaker Jamboree. This will be the world biggest gathering of Kayakers to ever take place on the Norwalk Islands (unless you do not come). Kayakers from ConnYak, CT AMC, Sound Kayakers, the Hudson River Kayaking Meetup, the Wethersfield Kayaking Meetup, The Southington Sea Kayaking Meetup, The Tuesday Night Paddlers, and any other group are welcome to come and to invite friends. The Jamboree will span the entire weekend. Some people will camp over night and some will paddle over just for the day. SKG will plan three paddle times, but you are welcome to come over any day at any time. We encourage that you paddle in pods of three or more. Check the weather and tide, and always be aware of the boat traffic. Paddle safe. Many kayakers are paddling over on Friday night, but for those that want to come over for just the day (or one night) we are having a second meetup so you can paddle together. The noon meetup will be at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk. Some may want to Meetup at another time or location. Possible put-in spots are Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk, the Rowayton Community Beach on the Five Mile River, or State Boat Ramp on the Saugatuck River. Please specify in your RSVP where you plan to launch from and what time (if it is not at noon) so others can meetup with you and paddle in a group. The Jamboree will be on Shea Island. Camp sites are reserved for Friday night and Saturday night. Anyone can paddle over to the island and join the Jamboree. You must bring your own gear, supplies, and beverages. If you plan to paddle to the island on Saturday then RSVP on this page (Go to SKG's"> SKG's Meetup page). If you plan to join the group on Friday then RSVP on their Friday event page. Camp sites are reserved by SKG in advance. We are asking that participants make a $5 per person contribution to the SKG for anyone who wants to stay the night and $2 for day visitors. We are planning to do an Island Clean up on Sunday morning. We hope everyone can join us for this. Please bring heavy duty garbage bags and gloves. Yes, unless you have sail boat, motor boat, or can swim very well, you must have a kayak. Kayaks can be rented from the Small Boat Shop, Down Under Kayaks, EMS, or Outdoor Sports (http://kayaking.mee tu... ). You should reserve your boat soon as available rentals may be short on the days leading up to the Jamboree. Yes, if you do not want to camp, you can still paddle over to the Island and join the festivities on both Saturday and Sunday. To RSVP for Sunday go to their site and the Sunday page. For more information and discussion regarding this event go to the Message board on the SKG site. Please read the SKG disclaimer. You are responsible for yourself.

Hi Friends, Here is another extremely worthwhile way to spend your day, volunteer to help the swimmers who are swimming from Beacon to Newburgh for the 2009 Riverpool Swim!! There is a mandatory kayaker:swimmer ration which needs to be filled so the swim can go on, so I open this up to you to help the cause. I wish I could attend, but you'll be in good hands with Tom Gavin, a member of our group and organizer of the Swim. You will need to contact him to RSVP either through his profile on our site or at www.riverpool.org. He will give you a mini-training before the swim. Please do not RSVP on this page!!! The location is Beacon Landing, Red Flynn Drive, Beacon, NY 10508. The time is not officially announced, but it will be around 9am. Have fun!!!!! :-)

Watchadoin on Sunday? Sorry for the late notice, but I hope you can join us to paddle Lake Welch in the Harriman Lakes. It's a lake that you need a permit for from PIPC, but for those of you that already have it, let's use it!!! For permit info check back to the Lake Tiorati paddle trip description for good info. The permit fee was slightly higher than is listed there. There is a Jazz Knights event in the evening, so we will not dine together afterwards, so bring a lunch. The weather looks great, so let's go!!!! Also bring hat, sunscreen, water, dry clothes. $1 Meetup fee, send me your cell, wear your PFD, etc. Happy paddling!!!

Yeah! Let's celebrate one year of paddling fun and friendship!! One year ago today was our first paddle, and it's been great!! Our times on the water are always the best, lots of great memories. My kayak has a perpetual smile on it's bow now. :-) Let's meet at Gully's and see which way the river takes us, then dinner afterwards. Rain or rough water cancels the river part, but we'll still dine at 5:30 at Gully's. Please send me your cell if I don't have it. $1 Meetup fee. Please read the disclaimer if you've never paddled with us, PFD mandatory. Happy day! :-)
