Hello everyone! As you may have noticed I have recently asked for suggestions for events for our group.
For this reason I would entertain all of you from time to time stepping up to "HOST" an event. If everyone would volunteer just one time a year we would have plenty of scheduled events! If you have something fun you think everyone would be interested in -please send me an email with the particulars & "HOST EVENT" IN ALL CAPS IN SUBJECT LINE & I will "OFFICIALLY" post your event if appropriate for our group. Feel free to MAKE SUGGESTIONS for all, but please no specific times or places, because this may conflict with the group's "official" events & with your events you may want to hold. Let me know so everyone can know exactly where we are going & when. I really appreciate your input into the events & I will still post events (mainly joint events with my movie group-THE HOUSTON MOVIE MEETUP GROUP-http://movies.meetup.... This is the LARGEST SINGLES "MEETUP" GROUP IN HOUSTON! There are alot of advantages of us having a large group opposed to several small groups: We can have group discounts & alot of "clout" with local businesses. There are TONS of things to do in Houston! LET'S GO!!! Karen ![]() Edited by Karen on Mar 6, 2007 3:11 PM |

I work downtown off of Travis St.
I'd attend occassional weekday luncheons around that area if they were set up. I live in South Houston, outside the loop in the Pearland/Alvin/Manvel area. I would love to see events outdoors such as hikes, volleyball games, picnics, etc. Would also attend museums, plays, movies, etc. I don't do bars and clubs. Hope that helps. |

Oh, also, I get numerous e-newsletters about things going on in and around Houston.
I'd be happy to post them as I get them if you don't mind, Karen. Then the singles here would know what's going on where. It doesn't seem like there's much going on unless you look. Once you plug yourself in to some avenues and information bits, you realize that Houston is a VERY VERY VERY outgoing place! |

I'm not big on hosting events.
I honestly didn't figure anyone would want to do the types of things I do, since I don't go to bars and clubs. Hmmmm.... |

my problem with this group is that everything so far that has been planned has been in or about the same part of town. all my respnses have been "too far" i'm not going to travel alone late at nite, something a little more convient for the majority instead of just a couple of people would be nice.

Inside the loop is the most central location in Houston.
I have tried before & one time we ended up going up north (near the Woodlands) & none of the people up north showed up. Instead alot of us drove from the central Houston area & some people from LaPorte (way down south). There will be events sometimes at different locations in Houston, but what I'm getting at is there is no way to make everyone happy with the location all the time. ![]() Houston is too large & there are too many people with diverse interests & locations that are convenient to "just them". Please see my message "UPDATE" about hosting an event sometime. Just once would help. That way you can do it in your own area & we can get different activities & different spots in town! More fun-but please see message. ![]() Karen |

Karen,
Although I don't want to be an organizer it'd be nice if some activities for movies were placed in other parts of town. I'm in Jersey Village and I'd suggest the Tinseltown on Hwy 290 in the Pinemont/Bingle/43rd exit area. |
