Let's go listen to the music of Tchaikovsy in Golden Gate Park on a Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Gate Park Band has been playing free public concerts on Sundays in Golden Gate Park continuously since September of 1882.
Their free Sunday afternoon concert season runs from April -October each year. Concerts begin at 1:00 p.m. and last about two hours. They will be in the Spreckles Temple of Music at the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park.
The Band plays a great variety of music that includes classic band favorites, opera, marches, Broadway show tunes, orchestral transcriptions, novelty tunes, folk music, and big band swing. They also feature soloists from within the band and guest artists throughout the season. On this date we will hear Tchaikovsky & Friends.
Come and enjoy one of Americas oldest professional concert bands in the magnificent surroundings of Golden Gate Park.

PARKING:
The Music Concourse Garage is open on a daily basis from 7:30am to 10pm. The weekends cost $3 per hour. The entrance to the garage can be found at 10th Avenue and Fulton Street. Additional places to park a car can be found along a variety of side streets within the park, as well as down the length of John F. Kennedy Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
MEETING SPOT:
These events start off with very few people, but quickly fills up. When facing the stage, I will shoot for grabbing us some bench space in the back, left area. If the benches are taken up, I'll be in the back of the bench area, to the left. You might want to bring a beach towel to sit on in case the benches are all full. I'll have my little red Meetup sign and I'll try to find a red balloon to hold.
MEETING TIME:
Concert starts at 1pm so let's plan to meet up between 12:30 and 1pm.
Reminder:
If it is hot - remember to bring sun screen and a hat as we'll be sitting out in the sun. If it is cold/windy, remember to dress in layers as it can get quite cold in the park. Also, you can access the restaurant in the de Young Museum for some food and drinks, but it isn't real cheap, so you might want to bring some snacks and cold drinks to enjoy and share during the concert.
As an FYI:
In that same area, there is free Lindy Swing Dancing in the Park that starts at 11am every Sunday. It is open to dancers of all ages and levels. It is a perfect venue to practice your social dancing to the sounds of jazz, blues and swing music, and sometimes even a few surprises. http://www.lindyinthe... I may try to get there early for that event, but don't hold me to it.
I hope to see you there!
