Meet at 5:45 PM at Franklin Plaza (at the corner of Central and Juan Tabo) and depart at 6:00 PM. We will car pool from there and go around to the East Side of the Sandia to the 10 K Trailhead. Members that live on the East side of the Sandia’s, just meet us at the trailhead parking lot on the right side of the road. We will take the 10 K north to where it crosses the Ellis Trail and take a few moments to rest and see the sunset. We will return by way of the Ellis Trail through the open meadows back to the road and then down the road for a mile to the cars. The chances of seeing deer along the return trail is a good possibility. Bring a flashlight, a jacket, snacks and water. Hike at your own pace and enjoy yourself. No dogs please. Hiking Distance: 5 – 5 1/2 miles round trip. Difficulty: Moderate, Elevation: up or down 600 ft out and back. Leader: Tom Mizner (830-9734 or cell # 301-2460)

If the weather looks threatening, still show up at the parking lot. We'll hike someplace or wait 10 minutes until the rain stops, then go anyway.

    •  This was more challenging than previous hikes and we were on the mountain for a longer time as well. It was still a good one, and these are getting addictive, to get out and get some exercise in nature in the middle of the week. I'm hoping for clear skies and moonlight if there is one this coming Wednesday.
    •  Most difficult of the Wednesday night hikes but very rewarding! I've never been on the Ellis trail so that was fun.
    •  A great crowd of 29 friends enjoyed the hike. I defiantly got dark on us for the way back and was a little cool also. But it was worth it to see the sunset from the overlook.
