Jerry Boles and Jason Mills will be teaching a beginner's rappelling course above Sandia Man Cave on the east side of the Sandia Mountains, Sunday, November 1st. The approach to the top is fairly easy. If you have rappelling with Jason or me, it is easier to get to than Whitewash.
We will be teaching beginners on a shorter descent area, and if you are interested in something more advanced & exciting, will be offering a 100 ft rappel nearby, all with training and supervision.
Rappelling is a very safe sport, but I must stress that an individual needs to be in fairly good physical condition. If you regularly hike, bike, swim, work out, etc, you will be fine. If you have rappelled before, but don't have gear, come out anyway. We'll have plenty of gear. If you have leather gloves, please bring those with you, also plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen. Also biking or skiing helmets if you have them.
We will be meeting at the Target on Paseo Del Norte & I-25 on Sunday at 11am, then carpooling over to the cave. It is about a half hour drive, and about a 15 minute hike to the cliff.
If you have questions, call me at 270-8140.
