Either location will work and it probably will be better to come later than earlier. Call me at 504-0785 if you have questions.

Since we have had such a great response, please plan on coming for 2 hour shifts anytime between 3 and 7.

There is a real need at the Highland Station which is located at 111 Alverado and Central, about three blocks east of San Mateo. Apparently they get a lot of donations and don't have any volunteers. Therefore, we will be going to Highlands. If you would prefer to go to the Foothills station, please make note of it in your rsvp so I can let Roadrunner know. Thanks for accommodating Roadrunner.

Roadrunner Food Bank. The 14th Annual Letter Carriers' Holiday Food Drive will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2009. We will need 20 volunteers between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the post office listed below. Volunteers will sort food the Letter Carriers bring in from their routes. Volunteers are needed to unload the trucks as food comes in. There will be times when volunteers will be very busy separating the canned goods from the dry goods items. There will also be times when there is nothing to do and volunteers are waiting for trucks to come back. We do this to prepare for Sunday, November 22…the only Sunday we are open…when we will have volunteers pack the sorted food to go out to the community for Thanksgiving. There is also a posting for that if you can't make this event. There will be two to three Roadrunner staff members available to direct your group. This is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is a GREAT ACTIVITY FOR FAMILIES, but children under six may have a difficult time.

I really wanted to go to this one. My son has first year(college) parent weekend this very weekend in Madison Wi. I hope there are more of these events. Good luck and enjoy...I know that this will be a very rewarding experience Steve

In this period of difficult times we all seem to be having now, it is so wonderful to see so many people come out to help and all the people that donated food so generously. This really restores your faith in others. Thanks Dianne and others!
    •  Everything was organized well....it felt real good to participate!
    •  Thanks everybody for volunteering! Roadrunner really appreciates the enthusiasm of this group.
    •  It was a fabulous way to meet members of the group. We had time in between the trucks coming in to socialize. I was warmly welcomed and got to know several members of the group. Several went out for dinner afterward. I was good to volunteer and gave those of use who are new to the group a working way to meet members. Thanks!
    •  Plenty of help everyone helped it was a great turn out.
    •  Great fun. Met several new people to Meetup helping today.
    •  I spoke with the driver there from the Food Bank and he estimated that we collected approximately 5,000 pounds of food. The next step is next Sunday when we meet at the Food Bank & sort it into boxes for distribution to the families inm need, I hope other singles that did not make it tonight pitch in and help then.
