We've planned a fun day of white water rafting with the Santa Fe Rafting Company.

We will meet in their parking lot in Santa Fe at 8:30AM to sign in and get our life vests and boots. Their bus leaves promptly at 9AM for a 1 hour ride to the Taos Racecourse (this is the river that runs along the road to Taos) Because they are expecting a record runoff, the river should be class 3 / 4 rapids. EXPECT TO GET WET and the water will be cold. Photos are taken during the trip and will be available for purchase online.

It is about a 2 hour trip down the rapids with one of their certified guides. Generally 6 to a raft, it will be a hair raising fun ride navigating around the many obstacles that the river will reveal. A light snack is provided for the trip back, and those that wish might want to plan a nice lunch in Santa Fe when we return.

We will be receiving a group discount of 10% so the rate will be $52.00 per person. Please plan a tip for your guide....they work for tips............Min $5.00 PP is suggested

Due to dealing with an outside company that must plan for our group, YOU MUST CALL 1-888-988-4914 and place your reservation with Santa Fe rafting Co. They will require a credit card and will answer any question you may have. Please tell them you are with the MEETUP group for the AM Racecourse May 18th. Alcohol is not permitted on their bus going or comming. Bring bottled water for the raft or you can purchase it there.

Please respond to this meetup with the usual Yes / No, but remember, your not really a YES without calling the raft company.Santa Fe rafting Co

The trip was great! Iwould recommend letting people know how late it is likely to be when we get off the river-I ate breakfast at 6am and would have had something on the bus had I known it would be 2:30 before we got off the river. I was famished!!

Thanks for setting this up Steve. I've rafted many times before but never had the opportunity to paddle up-river to surf a roll (thanks to Julius for letting us do it)! We had two people in on that one.

For those of you freaking out over the water, the rafting company does provide wetsuits to protect you from the cold as well as booties and full life vests.

Water temperature will be so cold that if you do fall in without some exposure dry top and bottoms with neoprene boots/gloves/head skullcap you do risk cold water immersion shock which can and does kill. If you or the company does not have the proper gear to get into cold water ........http://coastguardnews.com/c...

I haven't farted for a few years, so I and my friends are really looking for to the trip as well. One of our party is a very experienced rafter and river guide.
