This week’s game is between Baltimore Ravens (4-4) and Cleveland Browns (1-7). This will be an interesting game. Come out and support the underdogs, you’ll have to go to the dog pound, sit in the cheep seats and howl. Where else can you go except up, when you at the bottom of the league. Game time is 6:30, so get there early for something to eat and get a good seat.

Door opens at 5 PM and tonight is pizza and beer night. I’ll have several large pizza delivered just before 6 and we can eat/nibble until gone or 8 PM. If it gets cold, we can heat it up in the microwave. So no leftover’s tonight.
Price for dinner is $4 for 2 slices. An extra slice for only $1 more. There will also be popcorn available (for a donation) and chips & salsa at the bar for a small price. There is no door fee for non members on Mondays. Just the price of the meal.

Remember, this is a cash only bar for any beverage. No credit or debit cards please.

See you there

Either location will work and it probably will be better to come later than earlier. Call me at 504-0785 if you have questions.

Since we have had such a great response, please plan on coming for 2 hour shifts anytime between 3 and 7.

There is a real need at the Highland Station which is located at 111 Alverado and Central, about three blocks east of San Mateo. Apparently they get a lot of donations and don't have any volunteers. Therefore, we will be going to Highlands. If you would prefer to go to the Foothills station, please make note of it in your rsvp so I can let Roadrunner know. Thanks for accommodating Roadrunner.

Roadrunner Food Bank. The 14th Annual Letter Carriers' Holiday Food Drive will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2009. We will need 20 volunteers between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the post office listed below. Volunteers will sort food the Letter Carriers bring in from their routes. Volunteers are needed to unload the trucks as food comes in. There will be times when volunteers will be very busy separating the canned goods from the dry goods items. There will also be times when there is nothing to do and volunteers are waiting for trucks to come back. We do this to prepare for Sunday, November 22…the only Sunday we are open…when we will have volunteers pack the sorted food to go out to the community for Thanksgiving. There is also a posting for that if you can't make this event. There will be two to three Roadrunner staff members available to direct your group. This is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is a GREAT ACTIVITY FOR FAMILIES, but children under six may have a difficult time.

Walleyball is volleyball in a racquetball court.

The cost is $5 per person.

We will reserve only one (1) court from 7:30 to 9:30.

We must limit the attendees to 12.

Please make changes to your response as early as possible. If you RSVP yes, please make sure you attend as we need an accurate head count to pay for the court. After the response limit is met people wishing to sign up will be placed on a waiting list and it will be first come first served for replacements if anyone changes from "yes" to "no."

If you are bringing guests, please make sure to include them when you sign up so we can get an accurate head count.

All levels are welcome but this is not a game for the timid. Rules are simple:

1. Have fun and get a good workout.
2. No one touching or falling into the net.
3. Ceiling is out of bounds.

5. The opponents back wall is out.

I would like to tell you about the great band the Solo Club has lined up for our next visit. The Band is Latin Groove. The sounds are 70’s Funk, Rock and Roll with a little Salsa tossed in. They are a younger band that plays to our wide age group.

Testimonial:
The last time this band played in the club I was in heaven, my kind of music. I’m 50 so I was reliving my youth through their music. I hope the Meetup Singles come in and hear this young band, they sure are good and I think you will enjoy them as much as I did. See you at the club.

Join other Meet-Up members for the final (theme camp out), and most likely the final camp out for this year. We will camp at the Caballo River Park Campground (behind the dam, not at the lake itself) about 16 miles south of Truth or Consequence, New Mexico. Come join us from 11 November thru 16 November or any part of that time. The location is about a 3 hour drive south on I-25, all paved to the site, so all vehicles can make it. The daytime temps are in the mid 60’s and low 70’s and there are heated restrooms and hot showers available at the campground. Basic camp sites are $10.00 per night; sites with water and electric are $14.00 per night and sites with water, electric and sewer hook up are $18.00 per night. If you car pool you can split the cost of the site. If you have electricity at your site you can plug in a heater for your tent! There are metal covered shelters with a large metal table with seating and a grill at each site. Skipper will take a 10’ X 10’ enclosed heated room for the cool evenings and will serve complimentary hot coffee each morning. There will be a Fiesta Pot Luck on Saturday, 14 November at noon so bring a main dish to share and if you bring guests bring one for them or have them bring one. There will be Fiesta music all weekend and a Piñata party with prizes on Saturday after lunch! Stores are nearby, only about a mile or so away, if you forget something you can get it quick. So get out your sombrero and serape, pack your maracas’ and join in the fun at Fiesta Weekend! Caballo Lake is minutes away for fishing and boating or you can fish the river only a few feet away. Skipper will be at the campground starting Veterans day 11 November thru noon on the 16th of November. Camping is free on 11 November for any veterans with I.D. No need to make advanced site reservations. You will be able to find us by looking for the Welcome banner with the “Cactus and Lights” plus our Meet Up sign. Driving directions and description are as follows:
Caballo Lake State Park is a New Mexico State Park located 16 miles south of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico on the Rio Grande (river). The dam is 96 feet tall and 4,558 feet across. The size of the lake varies by season, but when the lake is full, it is over 11,500 acres in area, and 18 miles long, making it New Mexico's third largest lake. Take I-25 south from Albuquerque for approx 162 miles to exit 59, Caballo/Percha Lake State Parks. Cross over the freeway going east the turn left on Hiway 187 for approximately 100 yards then turn right and enter the road that will lead you directly into the Caballo River Park Campground. You will find us by looking for the Welcome sign mentioned above and the Meet-up sign. Please bring a copy of these directions with you to assure you find us. Amigos – A la Fiesta!

Meet at Taylor Park at the NE corner of Indian School Road & Pennsylvania. There will be plenty of parking in the area or across the streets. We will have recreational volleyball games from 1 to 5 PM and then maybe find someplace to have dinner afterwards. Don't like to play! No problem, bring a lawn chair, blanket or recliner and relax or cheer your friends on. Children are welcome to come to the park, but these games will be for adults only. No dogs or alcoholic beverages are to be brought. Feel free to bring single potential members to make these games an enjoyable social event.

We'll leave the parking lot at 8:15.

The San Ysidro Scenic Circuits follow US550 to San Ysidro and provides awesome views of the Jemez Mountains to the north and the wilderness study areas to the south and the Sandia Mountains on the return. This ride is a good one for the winter months. It can be pretty hot in the summer. The route is pretty open and vulnerable to the winds. IF THE 12 HOUR FORCAST CALLS FOR WINDS IN EXCESS OF 12 MPH I'LL CANCEL THE RIDE. There are several ways to begin this ride in Bernalillo. We'll meet in the parking lot at the Santa Ana Casino near the Northwest end. This is a favorite training ride since there are no stop signs or traffic lights west of the casino.

Getting There: Take I-25 north of Albuquerque to 550 turn West to Santa Ana Casino. Turn right.

Roadway: US550 was rebuilt in 1998 with new 4-lanes and shoulders with rumble strips. Be careful coming up to guard rails since some of the rumble strips get pretty close.

Distance: Star Casino to San Ysidro out and back Option, 43 miles roundtrip, 805' elevation gain out, 1225' elevation gain total, rolling hills, mainly a 500' hill west of Rio Rancho.Start at the Star Casino with big parking lots at US550 / NM528 west of Bernalillo to skip the Bernalillo traffic. Park at the far north west end of the lot.

Movie starts @ 4:35pm (Open to grabbing a bite to eat afterward...Chama River Brewery is nearby.)

Reporter Bob Wilton is in search of his next big story when he encounters Lyn Cassady, a shadowy figure who claims to be part of an experimental U.S. military unit. According to Cassady, the New Earth Army is changing the way wars are fought. A legion of "Warrior Monks" with unparalleled psychic powers can read the enemy's thoughts, pass through solid walls, and even kill a goat simply by staring at it. Now, the program's founder, Bill Django, has gone missing and Cassady's mission is to find him. Intrigued by his new acquaintance's far-fetched stories, Bob impulsively decides to tag along. When the pair tracks Django to a clandestine training camp run by renegade psychic Larry Hooper, the reporter is trapped in the middle of a grudge match between the forces of Django's New Earth Army and Hooper's personal militia of super soldiers. In order to survive this wild adventure, Bob will have to outwit an enemy he never thought possible.
