Mountain Bike Ride, “Two Wheels & Steel Wheels!” Experience a mountain bike ride unique to New Mexico! Meet at Bank of America at San Mateo and Academy at 7:45 to leave by 8:00 AM; we need to leave the Santa Fe train station no later than 9:30, want to have plenty of time as to make a reasonable pace along the way to Lamy. People in the Santa Fe area, meet us at the train station at 9 AM. First there is MT bike ride along the tracks on a single-track path from Santa Fe to the historic Lamy (26 miles from the station to station or 18-mile from I-25 to Lamy) Then we ride the train back. For slower riders I recommend starting under I-25 overpass for a shorter trip. It has been said that this ride is downhill and not considered difficult, but can be rocky or sandy in places along with a steep hill or two (up 50 feet) on the way. Trees that provide shad are a rare find so bring plenty of sunscreen. The bike ride will take about 2.5 to 3 hours. Next, for those that didn’t bring their own lunch, we’ll purchase lunch and seek a shady spot at the Lamy Station. Finally, it’s “all aboard,” bikes and all, for the return trip to Santa Fe on the Santa Fe Southern Railway (SFSR). A one way ticket is $20, and round trip tickets for anyone not riding a bike will be $32 or $45 depending on the Coach or Silver Class. You must make your own reservations on the SFSR in advance by calling 1-888-989-8600 or visit the web page at www.sfsr.com. Be sure to mention if you’ll be biking, as bike space can be limited on the train. Also, bring a bungee cord to secure your bike on the train. Must bring and least 2 liters of water, clothing for the weather, sunscreen, helmet required, and lunch if you don’t get the in Lamy. Driving distance: 120 miles RT, Elevation drops: 500 – 800 ft. May stay and have dinner in Santa Fe before returning to Albuquerque. Leader: Tom Mizner (H# 830-9734 or C# 301-2460)

Welcome, night denizens to the most haunted place in New Mexico. Of course, I'm speaking of the haunted corn maze in Moriarty. Come join us for a frightfully scary night on the darkest day of the month. Yes, even the moon is afraid to come out tonight. Cost for admittance to your doom is a mere $14 per body. This gets you entrance into both the haunted Corn Maze and the totally grotesque Haunted Barn. McCall's Haunted Corn Maze We'll be meeting at 7 o'clock in the evening at Smith's parking lot to car pool out to the corn field. You'll find us quivering under the forbidding sky near the forelorn south end of the lot. For those of you who stay behind, below is a map to send a rescue crew. http://www.mccallpum pkinpatch.com/dynami cdata/assetimages/Mc C-site-map.jpg

Greetings Singles! Alrighty then. The Mystery Lady dance was too controversial, some of you loving it and some of you thinking it was weird and hating it, and apparently now me, so I'm thinking of a theme dance that just maybe we can all get behind. How about an Organizer Appreciation Dance? I'll chip in for a beer for any 'organizer' , not an 'asst.' organizer like myself, who shows. Our Organizers go at paces that accommodate everyone's style and speed, make a big effort to make everyone welcome, make sure everyone gets off the mountain while dealing with our 'idiotsyncracie s' when they'd probably rather just leave us behind or there, and few ever ask for money to help with the $76 every three months, last time I checked, it takes to throw these things up and just do them. After I brag on them like this, though, and if they show, they might have to dance with others who show up to earn that beer or at least to save face. Bike helmets are good for saving face, too. For those who know, I may not be dancing a lot, myself, but I will as much as I can. From Freddie: Join me & Bobby Box of 98.5 Big Classic Hits Radio on Wednesdays at:
1. Paparazzi (formerly Our Place II ) 9401 Coors Blvd NW Every Wednesday 5:00-10:00PM
See flyer below for food and drink specials. (Note: I couldn't find the flyer, but they might have specials.)

Greetings Dancers, For fun I'm scheduling a Mystery Lady Dance at the Country Swing Denim & Diamonds floor at Graham Central Station for this Saturday night at 7 PM, when they open. There is no cover until 8:30. A gal has caught my eye and "She" probably already knows who "She" is, but it is up to you, guys and gals, to figure out who "She" is. Unbeknownst to "Her", a picture of "Her" has been on my desktop since I first saw it, having replaced my decades-old desktop image of a snow-draped slope in the mountains with pine trees literally drooping with powdery white, a perfect place for telemarking, downhilling, or just XC skiing. Thus, if you go and want to play you have to circulate, dance with a lot of different people, and ask a lot of questions, like an interpersonal scavenger hunt, to try and figure out just who "She" is, or who "She" might be. QUESTIONS CAN ONLY BE ASKED ON THE DANCE FLOOR!! Going early, it will be less crowed and quieter so that one can hear questions and answers better, and so that one can get a jump on the game. After two years in Meetups and as an assistant organizer, now, for at least 4, I've recently been the subject of some unpleasant meetup gossip, perhaps because I'm very friendly to and mischievous with a lot of different people, while still being very selective with whom I hang out on a more individual basis, so what the hell, let's make it official. There are clues hidden within this meetup posting that only "She" will know, so "She" is automatically disqualified from winning this "peeps" scavenger hunt, unless "She" might consider just having me as a lifetime dance partner, outdoor adventurer, and just fun companion being anywhere close to 'winning'? Chortle! I enjoy these Meetups because I meet a big community of very interesting and great people, AND I'm having a lot of fun looking for that NUMERO UNO. If you don't like this....then sue me, but....you will have to get in line. Of course, Ladies, if you don't like me or have felt jilted by me in the past because I didn't give you the attention you thought you deserved, and you are holding that against me, then you can continue gossiping about me, but EVERYONE will know "She" is NOT you. Chuckles! Of course, if you are Confident and just Straight-up about Yourself and what You have to offer, You can just Assume that "She" is You, shake your bounty, and just "BE the Guest of Honor" without even "playing the game". Warning! If you take this approach, then all the men will be attracted to you, and "Being the Guest of Honor" could very well become simply.....self-fulf illing. Thus, You win anyway no matter who the Mystery Lady is, AND without playing games. I'm entertaining suggestions for what the prize(s) should be, for whoever first figures out who the Mystery Lady is. Contact me if you have some additional fun ideas (that don't involve whips, hand-cuffs, or chains) or if you want to contribute to the prizes for the winner, "NOT THE MAMMA" (HOT!!) ;^[) To protect "Her" from being embarrassed by all this, prize(s) will be awarded to the winner without disclosing "Her" identity and only upon the condition that "Her" identity will be maintained as a secret, until such a time, if ever, "She" wants to disclose the fact that "She" is the Mystery Lady. Disclosing the fact that "She" is the Mystery Lady to a friend automatically also disqualifies that friend from winning! Galen

Non MT bike riders are welcome on the trip as well. You can drive up and hike several of the short trails in the area and meet the riders at the top in a picnic area. This will be a slow uphill ride for 9 miles stopping along the way to see the Fall Colors in the Manzano Mountains. Let's meet at 8:00AM at Smiths (SE corner of Central and Tramway) and we’ll car pool the 45 miles to our starting point in Tajique, at the grocery store. A MT bike or a Cross Trainer bike will be needed on a graded dirt road for most our journey. This ride has a very gradual elevation gain from 6,500’ to 8,000’ and is rated at moderate for aerobic level and easy on technical skills (1 out of 5). Actual ride time is around 3 hours but we’ll definitely take scenery stops. We will stop for a rest at the picnic area at the top before continuing on down hill to Torreon. Then only 4 miles back to the starting point along the road. Plan B for the day, if wet conditions or closure of the roads, would be an alternate Albuquerque ride closer to town. Bring your wheels, plenty of water, sunscreen, bike gear (helmet required), and don’t forget the camera. If there are people that would like to drive around the loop and follow the riders, would be great. As usual we may reward our efforts with lunch/early dinner afterwards on the way back.
