Manifest Destiny/Manifest Responsibility: A Walk-Thru with the Curator

walk-thru starts at 6:00 p.m.

May 20
Loyola University Museum of Art
820 N. Michigan Avenue, 2nd Floor, Chicago

Join us for a free, in-depth look at the exhibition with curator Peter John Brownlee, Terra Foundation Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow. Dr. Brownlee will highlight the exhibition's themes - bounty, manifest destiny and manifest responsibility; and introduce visitors to works that invite viewers to examine the ecological, cultural and spiritual aspects of their environmental footprints.

The Exhibit
In this moment of increasing environmental awareness, Manifest Destiny/Manifest Responsibility: Environmentalism and the Art of the American Landscape explores America's longstanding relationship to the land traditionally considered its national birthright. Viewers of this exhibition of paintings, prints and drawings from the collection of the Terra Foundation for American Art will contemplate the cultural, spiritual, and ecological ramifications of their environmental "footprints."

This exhibition is organized by the Loyola University Museum of Art in partnership with the Terra Foundation for American Art. Terra Foundation for American Art is the lead sponsor

If there is interest, we can have something to eat/drink someplace in the area after the tour.

Being an artistic environmentalist, this event is doubly interesting to me.
