Hontoon Island State Park
We are having a camping and spiritual retreat on:
Friday March 13 through Sunday March 15, 2009
A camping and spiritual retreat is always a great idea to just get away as we all need the time for celebration, fellowship, rest, prayer, sharing, and personal time.
Here are some valuable information for the weekend.

Cabin: 3 spots available on bunk beds with prepaid RSVP of $14.00 for both nights (pay Jeremy via paypal in advance).
Tent camping is free, but bring your own tent, pillow and sleeping bag.
Please state in your RSVP what your intention is for the weekend (cabin, tent, or hanging out with the group on Saturday if your want to hang out for the day without camping out)
Limited to three people in the cabin and seven people in tents. We encourage you to waitlist; we may increase the availability if there is enough interest.
To get into the park is free, but in order to get there you have to use a ferry to get to the island. It is only a few hundred feet on the boat. The last ferry leaves at 7 p.m. for the night.
Here is a look of the Schedule for the weekend:
Friday:
Arrive at the island; the last ferry is 7:00 pm, so be sure to arrive in time!
Potluck dinner: bring something to share. (planning so we have a little of everything?) Please state in your RSVP what you plan to bring.
We will have a CAMPFIRE (unless there is a burn ban) so bring your own MARSHMALLOWS!
We are just planning to hang out and have some great celebration and fellowship as we get to know one another.
Saturday:
Bring your own breakfast (muffins, cliff bars, etc.) We will have hot water for coffee, tea, instant oatmeal, etc.)
We will have breakfast and fellowship with a guided scripture reading, opportunity to share something about your life. The ferry starts operation at 8 a.m., so if you would like to hang out at all during the day, just come out and meet up with us at any time.
After that (about 11 am to 4 pm) we’re free to hike, paddle in a canoe, etc.) Bring your own lunch (peanut butter sandwich, oranges, water, etc).
Canoe rentals are $7.50 per hour with a minimum of two hours. You can get them at the island store. They have a great hiking trial that loops around the island.
We will take the ferry at about 4:30 pm to the nearby restaurant for an early dinner. More details for the restaurant will be provided at later time, including the average cost.
Return to island by 7 pm. We will have a campfire again that night and have a great time in prayer.
Sunday
Breakfast on your own again
Check out time is 11 am; there is a church service at 10 am at the LifePoint community church near the island.
Come for all or part of the weekend; BUT you must tent camp if you stay only one night. Those in the cabin must pay for both nights. You are welcome to come for only Saturday and not stay overnight.
More details:
Supply your own pillow, sleeping bag or linens if you’re in the cabin.
Tent camping is free, but bring your own tent, pillow and sleeping bag.
Bring your own plate, cutlery, cup or mug; also your own towel and toiletries, and a flashlight.
A few of us should bring a small bundle of wood, so pick one up if it is convenient for you.
There is a vending machine with snacks and sodas on the island.
I am sure that more details and information will be provided.
I pray that you if you are needing some rest, fellowship, celebration, prayer, and sharing you will come out and join us.
