This year we're having our alcohol free New Years Eve party themed around “The Roaring 20's,” one of the most prosperous times in American history. To enter our Jazz styled Speakeasy club pass through 'Little Nicky's' book store and give the secret password (Hint: it's on your ticket). Then let the fun begin as we transport you back to a time of Model T's, Fedora hats and feather boas. There will be women in flapper dresses, and men dressed as gangsters. Dress in theme (1920's dance & dress) or just dress to impress. It is New Years Eve, after all.

Win a 32" Flat Screen TV or original artwork from Boom Art on Orange Avenue (value $350.00) by playing our icebreaker Monopoly game (rules). Bring a few extra bucks to increase your fun and your chances to win (limit: No more than $25). Many other prizes will be available throughout the evening as well.

Of course, there will be swing and free style dancing, so put on your dancing shoes. We'll even have a Charleston contest.

Hello All,
As many of you may have heard on Z88.3, Ken Davis, a comedian and motivational speaker, is going to be at First Baptist Orlando on Sunday. I was hoping we could get together at 5:45 so we could get good seats.

I will email those who RSVP yes with my phone number so we know where to meet.

Hope to see a good turnout!
Sandra :)

Below is the description found on the First Baptist website:

No Joke — He's Coming!

Even though Ken Davis’ job this time will be to make Orlando laugh, his vast ministry has included some very serious outreach to children and parents.

But on Sunday, August 9, Davis will be bringing the humor to First Orlando. His “Under the Influence” Comedy Concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Worship Center. The concert is free, though a love offering will taken.

Davis will also be preaching at the 6 p.m. Saturday, August 8 service, and both Sunday services at 9 & 10:45 a.m.

Davis is one of the most sought-after speakers in North America. He spent 15 years working for Youth for Christ, and in the past 25 years has traveled the nation as one of the top motivational and inspirational speakers. Davis, who has given thousands of comedy concerts around the world, has appeared on television and stage across the globe and is the host of the popular daily radio show, “Lighten Up,” heard on over 800 stations across America. He provides a unique mixture of humor and inspiration that never fails to entertain and enrich audiences of all ages. In fact, he refers to his humor as “comedy with content.” Internationally acclaimed motivational speak Zig Ziglar said of Davis, “ not only brings lots of laughter for young and old, but underneath it all is a message of hope and encouragement.”
Davis is the author of nine books including, “How to Live with Your Parents Without Losing Your Mind,” “How to Live with Your Kids When You’ve Already Lost Your Mind” and “I Don’t Remember Dropping the Skunk.”

Born and raised in Minnesota, Davis is a graduate of Oak Hills Bible College. He and his wife, Diane, live in Tennessee and have two married daughters.

Even though this is short notice, I am looking for only about 2-3 other people that would like to join me for this event together. I think it would be awesome to share in God's love and fellowship with families who have children with disabilities. As a ESE teacher, this is something I really enjoy doing and I would to share this experience with others.

Check out the website for more details:

If you plan on attending, please let me know by RSVPing or emailing me by Friday (June 5th) at noon. At that time, I will need to register us online. I will email you my phone number prior to the event and we will meet at the registration booth.

Hontoon Island State Park

We are having a camping and spiritual retreat on:

Friday March 13 through Sunday March 15, 2009

A camping and spiritual retreat is always a great idea to just get away as we all need the time for celebration, fellowship, rest, prayer, sharing, and personal time.

Here are some valuable information for the weekend.

http://www.floridastateparks.org/hontoonisland/Activities.cfm

http://www.hontooncso.com/

Cabin: 3 spots available on bunk beds with prepaid RSVP of $14.00 for both nights (pay Jeremy via paypal in advance).

Tent camping is free, but bring your own tent, pillow and sleeping bag.

Please state in your RSVP what your intention is for the weekend (cabin, tent, or hanging out with the group on Saturday if your want to hang out for the day without camping out)

Limited to three people in the cabin and seven people in tents. We encourage you to waitlist; we may increase the availability if there is enough interest.

To get into the park is free, but in order to get there you have to use a ferry to get to the island. It is only a few hundred feet on the boat. The last ferry leaves at 7 p.m. for the night.

Here is a look of the Schedule for the weekend:

Friday:

Arrive at the island; the last ferry is 7:00 pm, so be sure to arrive in time!
Potluck dinner: bring something to share. (planning so we have a little of everything?) Please state in your RSVP what you plan to bring.

We will have a CAMPFIRE (unless there is a burn ban) so bring your own MARSHMALLOWS!

We are just planning to hang out and have some great celebration and fellowship as we get to know one another.

Saturday:

Bring your own breakfast (muffins, cliff bars, etc.) We will have hot water for coffee, tea, instant oatmeal, etc.)

We will have breakfast and fellowship with a guided scripture reading, opportunity to share something about your life. The ferry starts operation at 8 a.m., so if you would like to hang out at all during the day, just come out and meet up with us at any time.

After that (about 11 am to 4 pm) we’re free to hike, paddle in a canoe, etc.) Bring your own lunch (peanut butter sandwich, oranges, water, etc).

Canoe rentals are $7.50 per hour with a minimum of two hours. You can get them at the island store. They have a great hiking trial that loops around the island.

We will take the ferry at about 4:30 pm to the nearby restaurant for an early dinner. More details for the restaurant will be provided at later time, including the average cost.

Return to island by 7 pm. We will have a campfire again that night and have a great time in prayer.

Sunday

Breakfast on your own again

Check out time is 11 am; there is a church service at 10 am at the LifePoint community church near the island.

Come for all or part of the weekend; BUT you must tent camp if you stay only one night. Those in the cabin must pay for both nights. You are welcome to come for only Saturday and not stay overnight.

More details:
Supply your own pillow, sleeping bag or linens if you’re in the cabin.
Tent camping is free, but bring your own tent, pillow and sleeping bag.
Bring your own plate, cutlery, cup or mug; also your own towel and toiletries, and a flashlight.
A few of us should bring a small bundle of wood, so pick one up if it is convenient for you.
There is a vending machine with snacks and sodas on the island.

I am sure that more details and information will be provided.

I pray that you if you are needing some rest, fellowship, celebration, prayer, and sharing you will come out and join us.
