Downtown Raleigh is blooming with new places. There are new buildings going up left and right and in those buildings are new places to eat, drink and be merry. One of these new places is the 101 Lounge & Cafe. Just as the name implies, it is a lounge type bar, so it has couches and is geared more towards just hanging around and mingling. It is also a Cafe, so they have a limited Tapas style menu. The decor of of the 101 is very modern and for some reason reminds me of a South Beach (Miami, FL) bar.

The parking situation is as follows:
You can park along the street because most places are free parking after 6:00 pm. There is also a parking deck for the Progress Energy building near the 101, which also should be free after 6:00 pm (or at least by the time you leave, there won't be an attendant). As you might guess, the 101 is attached to the new Progress Energy building on the opposite side of Fins at the corner of Davie and Blount.

As for all events for 20s/30s, it's better if you don't wait around to see who else is going to show up. Just click that "Yes" option if you are free and come out for a good time. You never know who or how many people will show up, because we always get some walk-ups.

Kid Friendly : No
Pet Friendly : No
Smoking Friendly : No (walk outside)

Contribute to the Group

This event is free to attend, but may have cost your Organizer to setup. Please show your appreciation for the Event Organizer and the group by leaving a contribution. Any amount is welcome. Extra contribution collections will go towards making the next event even better.

At the risk of her become one of Dean's indentured servants, I thought Joellen did a great job and I had fun. Interesting location, good for smaller groups.

Who attended?

    •  I stayed at work later than expected. Sorry I wasn't able to attend!
    •  Joellen did a fine job. Everyone that came had a good time, but there were many no-shows.
    •  Three cheer for Joellen having the courage to be an organizer!!!
    • Dean Logan (+6 guests)
I hear it was a great event. I also hear that the 101 gave the group drink specials and that Joellen did a great job.
    •  It was a fun night. I liked the lounge feel. Some of us continued on to a late dinner afterwards. Thanks to those who came out and made my first happy hour a good experience!
    •  when I stopped by at 7:30 there were only three guys there, not sure what happened to the gals!
